Terms of Use
Last updated 30 October 2026
The short version
- Distill is a Tamensah Labs product. By using it, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
- What you bring and what you write stay yours. You give us only what we need to run the service for you.
- Only your own content, or a group's content you have permission to share, can be published or shared publicly.
- No sexual content, no violent or hateful language, no harassment, nothing illegal.
- When an investigation confirms a serious violation, we may suspend or close the account without appeal.
- Distill's outputs are AI drafts. Check them before you rely on them or publish them.
1. Who we are and this agreement
Distill, including Thoughtcast, is made by Tamensah Labs (“we”, “us”). These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and us about your use of mydistill.app, the Distill app and any related service (together, “Distill”).
By creating an account, publishing a thoughtcast, or otherwise using Distill, you agree to these terms. If you use Distill for an organisation, such as a church, school or company, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.
2. Who can use Distill
You must be at least 16 years old to use Distill. If you're under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms for you.
Distill is currently available by invitation. We may limit, change or end access to any feature, including Thoughtcast, which is offered to invited accounts while it's tested.
3. Your account
Give accurate information when you sign up, keep your password private, and tell us at our email (shown with JavaScript on) if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens in your account. An account is for one person; don't share it, sell it or transfer it.
A Thoughtcast username, once chosen, can't be changed, because your links depend on it. Don't choose a username that impersonates someone else or misleads people about who you are.
4. Your content
“Your content” means what you bring to Distill (links, transcripts, recordings and audio), what Distill makes for you from it (outputs), and what you add (edits, notes, your profile photo, bio and links).
You keep any rights you have in your content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content only as needed to run, secure and improve Distill for you, and to show the content you publish to the people you publish it to. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law or that others already shared.
You're responsible for your content and for having the rights to bring and use it. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to use.
5. Publishing and sharing
Only your own content, or content from a group you belong to with that group's permission, may be published or shared publicly through Distill. That applies to thoughtcasts, profiles, and share links.
- Thoughtcasts are for your own recordings. Before you publish, you confirm it's your recording, that everyone else who speaks agreed to it being published, and that you have the right to share everything in it, including any music, readings or artwork.
- Group content needs permission. A sermon, lesson, meeting or event belongs to the people and organisation behind it. Publish it only when they've agreed, and remove it if they ask.
- Other people's content is for your own use. You can distill a video, podcast or talk by someone else to learn from it, with Distill crediting the speaker. Don't republish it, or present their words or ideas as your own. A share link to a single item is fine for personal, credited use; don't use share links to redistribute someone else's work.
Published content is public: anyone with the link can see and hear it, and it may appear in search engines and link previews. You can unpublish at any time, but we can't recall copies that others have already made.
6. Content and conduct rules
These rules apply to everything you bring, make, publish or share with Distill. Don't use Distill to create, publish or share:
- Sexual content. No pornography, sexually explicit material, or sexual services. Any sexual content involving minors is never allowed; we remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities.
- Violence and violent language. No threats, incitement or calls to violence, glorification of violence or terrorism, or support for violent extremist groups.
- Hate and harassment. No attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or serious illness, and no bullying, intimidation or targeted abuse.
- Private information. No sharing of someone else's personal or confidential information without their permission, including contact details, ID numbers, financial or health information, or private recordings.
- Self-harm. Nothing that encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
- Illegal and dangerous activity. Nothing that breaks the law or helps others to, including fraud, scams, weapons, drugs, or instructions to cause serious harm.
- Deception. No impersonation, fake endorsements, or content presented as real that you know is false and likely to cause harm, such as health or election misinformation.
- Infringement. Nothing that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights.
- Spam and manipulation. No spam, and no inflating views, listens or shares by automated or deceptive means.
And don't misuse the service itself: don't try to break, overload or get around Distill's security or limits; don't access accounts or data that aren't yours; don't scrape Distill or use it or its outputs to build a competing service or train AI models; don't resell access.
7. AI-generated outputs
Distill uses AI to make transcripts, notes and drafts. AI can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and it can misread a speaker. Distill shows where each item comes from, but a passage in the source is not proof that a claim is true.
Outputs are drafts, not professional advice: legal, medical, financial, religious or otherwise. Review and edit them before you rely on them, publish them, or pass them on. You're responsible for what you publish.
8. Reports, investigations and suspension
Anyone can report a thoughtcast or profile from its page, or by writing to our email (shown with JavaScript on). We review reports and may also act on what we find ourselves.
If we believe content or an account breaks these terms, we may remove or unpublish content, limit features, or suspend the account while we investigate. When an investigation confirms a serious or repeated violation, we may suspend or permanently close the account without appeal. For the most serious harms, such as sexual content involving minors or credible threats of violence, we may act immediately and report to the authorities.
A thoughtcast that's taken down can't be published again. We're not obliged to monitor content, and leaving content up doesn't mean we approve of it.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Distill infringes your copyright, email our email (shown with JavaScript on) with: your contact details; the work you own; the link to the content; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised; and a statement that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorised to act for them. We remove infringing content and close the accounts of repeat infringers.
10. Changes to Distill, and fees
Distill is changing quickly. We may add, change or remove features, set usage limits, or stop offering Distill, and we'll give reasonable notice of major changes where we can.
Distill is free during early access. If we introduce paid plans, their prices and terms will be shown before you pay, and paid features will never be applied to you without your agreement.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Distill at any time. You can delete sources from your library, or your whole account and everything in it, yourself in Settings. We may end your access as described in section 8, or if we stop offering Distill. Sections 4, 7 and 12 to 15 continue after your use ends.
12. Disclaimers
Distill is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that Distill will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that outputs will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose. Keep your own copies of anything important.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Tamensah Labs isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Distill. Our total liability for any claim about Distill is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or GHS 500. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
14. Your responsibility to us
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you published or shared, or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there. Before going to court, contact us and we'll try to resolve the issue informally.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll tell you in Distill or by email before they apply. If you keep using Distill after a change applies, you accept the updated terms.
17. Contact
Questions about these terms: our email (shown with JavaScript on), or see Contact.
